Francis Xavier Dimalanta, MD, FPPS, FPSDBP
Recently graduated from Medical School back in 1992, Dr. Francis Dimalanta found himself taking over his brother’s post as Adult Leader to the Faroe Isles Village camp. It did not take all of 28 days to make a believer of him towards the cause of CISV.
He pursued further medical studies specializing in the field of Pediatrics. Later on, he earned his fellowship for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the UP-PGH and undertook further training at the Harvard Medical School and Cornell University for his chosen field. By career choice alone, Dr. Dimalanta had ensconced himself in the world of children and the ties that bound him to CISV grew even stronger.
Sixteen years and still forging on, Dr. D, as he is fondly called, has been part of numerous CISV programs as Camp Director, trainer to young leaders and junior counselors and assumed Presidency of the Quezon City Chapter for 3 years and currently presides over the National Association. In his varying capacities with CISV, he underscores the pressing need to develop and nurture social responsibility, respect for others and cooperation as tools in achieving CISV’s lofty goals.
Despite the demands of his profession, he finds time to revitalize his CISV links as this affords him the positive perspective that the pace of his profession denies him. In fact, he encourages others he meets in the course of his professional career and civic involvements to be part of CISV as he is a staunch advocate of building global friendships starting with children.
